Don't get me started about synthetic putting greens! Ok, I will if you must. I first installed one of these greens in 1999, it was a sand filled turf. The base preparation was similiar to a patio, as we excavate, then compact about six inches of crushed limestone, install the cups, and finally the surface. This green rolled at about a 8 on the stimpmeter, and within 2 years it had a speed of 16? Even if you golfed at Augusta National, you would never putt on a green this fast. I also received a call from this customer, stating that his green was growing moss and mold. We returned 2 years after the install date and pressure washed the moss and mold off to his satisfaction. For this reason, we will never install a sand filled green again. I have found turf that does not need sand infill, and will hold its speed through the years. It does not grow moss or mold. I'm a 9 handicap golfer, and have yet to see a more professionaly installed green, compared to our's. Check with our previous clients, and see for yourself.
